Daily Actions

We normally just post these daily actions on our Facebook page, but we will try to start posting them here more frequently.

02/10/2017- OPAA #Action

Happy Friday everyone! We made it through another chaotic week… We have a few actions for you that should only take a couple of minutes and then let’s give ourselves permission to take a day or two to rest our eyes, get some exercise, and recharge. If POTUS#45 can go golfing in Florida this weekend, we can take some time to step away from the insanity too, right?

Just a few phone calls or emails and you’re done… If this list is too long, just pick one — you can do this!

1) First let’s focus on California. There is a new bill in the state Senate by state Senate leader Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) called the “California Values Act” which would create safe zones around public schools and hospitals. Read more here: LA TIMES BILL TEXT

Call your State Senator and ask them to support SB 54.

If you are in Lamorinda you are in Senate District 7 and your Senator is: Steve Glazer (916) 651-4007 or email.

Or find your state Senator here.

2) Indivisible East Bay is working to get a town hall with Dianne Feinstein set up locally this month. Support their efforts and call (415) 393-0707 or email Dianne Feinstein’s office and ask her to please hold a town hall in the East Bay to take questions directly from the audience during February recess week.

3) Help support Senator Kamala Harris and her request for support in demanding an investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election: http://go.kamalaharris.org/page/s/acq-russia-feb17

4) Last item is another local issue: BART. According to the SF Examiner article, BART directors Lateefah Simon and Nick Josefowitz introduced a “Sanctuary in Transit” policy to the regular Board of Directors meeting last night. The motion at the BART board meeting Thursday directed the board’s Operations & Safety Committee to take up a Sanctuary in Transit policy at its next meeting, which, if moved forward, would be voted on by the full board at a later date. Let’s call or write letters of support of this policy. BART Board of Directors, P.O. Box 12688, Oakland,CA 94604-2688, (510) 464-6095 or use their email form.

5) Extra Credit: Learn more about SwingLeft and the effort to win back the House in 2018. Sign up for their conference call on Sunday, February 12 at 6:00PM PST: https://www.webcaster4.com/Webcast/Page/1632/19781

If you do listen in on this call please take notes & report back to us!
