Help Make Lamorinda a Sanctuary Community

OPAA was recently contacted by a group of local citizens who have joined together to try to make Lamorinda a Sanctuary Community. They are a group of 6 who grew up and went through the school system in Lamorinda, and are working independently for this Sanctuary City initiative. Because several OPAA members have expressed interest in similar goals, we are helping to broadcast their efforts, in the hope that we can all work together to achieve Sanctuary City status for all three local towns.

Call to Action:

Join us at the next Moraga and Orinda town council meetings and show your support for declaring sanctuary city status!

Hi everyone! We are a group of Lamorinda residents starting an initiative to push sanctuary status in Moraga, Orinda, and Lafayette. We'd love your help!

We've sent letters to the town councils of Moraga and Orinda to introduce our proposal, in advance of the town council meetings next week. We will be using the Public Comments Section of these meetings to urge the boards to declare sanctuary status and list it on the next council agenda.

What can I do to help?

1. The more people who attend and/or speak at the meetings, the better! The statements don't need to be incredibly prepared -- simply attend one or both of the town council meetings and speak for up to 3 minutes about why sanctuary in Moraga and Orinda is important to you. Consider sharing a personal story or story of somebody you care about. 2. Spread awareness in your community and share this information with others! Share the link to our public GoogleDoc on social media, or print out the attached PDF of the first three pages of the Doc and hand it out while canvassing.

Resistance movements need continuous passion and active participation. Please join us and make your voice heard!
